The truth is, there isn't one perfect month. The best time to get married in Nosara depends on your wedding vision, your guests, and the overall experience you want to create.

Some couples dream of endless sunshine, beach days, and lively restaurants. Others are drawn to lush green landscapes, quieter beaches, and the slower rhythm that comes with Costa Rica's green season. Both create beautiful celebrations. They simply offer different experiences.

Dry Season (January to March)

For many destination couples, January through March is the most popular time to get married in Nosara.

These months offer the highest likelihood of warm, sunny weather, making it easy to plan beach ceremonies, welcome parties, surf lessons, catamaran excursions, and outdoor receptions with confidence.

The town is also at its liveliest. Restaurants are bustling, boutique shops are full of visitors, wellness classes are abundant, and guests have endless opportunities to explore before and after the wedding. If you envision your wedding weekend feeling vibrant and energetic, this time of year naturally lends itself to that atmosphere.

If your priority is maximizing the likelihood of sunshine throughout your wedding weekend, these months are typically the safest choice.

It's also important to know that this is peak travel season. Lodging books earlier, accommodations fill more quickly, and flights are often at their highest pricing, so planning further in advance becomes even more important.

Green Season (May to August and November)

Many people assume green season is something to avoid.

Personally, I don't. In fact, some of my favorite weddings have taken place during these months.

Nosara transforms. The jungle becomes incredibly vibrant, everything feels alive, temperatures are generally cooler and more comfortable, and the entire town settles into a slower, more relaxed pace.

Rain is certainly part of the experience, but it rarely means it rains all day. More often, you'll enjoy sunshine for much of the day followed by a refreshing afternoon or evening shower before beautiful sunsets return.

With thoughtful planning, green season weddings can be every bit as beautiful and often even more atmospheric. Nosara offers a variety of covered venues, open-air terraces, and the opportunity to create stunning tented receptions that transform outdoor spaces into elegant celebrations while still feeling connected to the surrounding jungle. Rather than working against the season, we design with it.

The wedding weekend itself can still be filled with memorable experiences. Guests continue to enjoy yoga, surfing, fishing charters, wellness treatments, private chef dinners, cocktail parties, and many of the same activities that make Nosara such a special destination throughout the year.

For couples who appreciate nature, don't mind embracing a little unpredictability, and love the idea of lush tropical scenery, green season can be incredibly special.

Another advantage is value. Lodging rates are often more favorable than during peak season, allowing guests to enjoy longer stays or giving couples additional flexibility within their overall wedding budget. While venue pricing has traditionally remained fairly consistent year-round, we're beginning to see some newer venues introduce seasonal pricing as the market continues to evolve.

Shoulder Season: The Best of Both Worlds

If you're looking for a balance between weather, pricing, and availability, the shoulder season can be an excellent option.

These months often provide many of the benefits of both seasons, beautiful scenery, fewer crowds, and favorable travel conditions, without the intensity of peak tourism.

Every year is different, which is why local guidance matters when selecting your date. Understanding how weather patterns, guest travel, and venue logistics come together is just as important as looking at average rainfall statistics.

The Months We Typically Don't Recommend

While beautiful days absolutely happen year-round, we generally don't recommend planning weddings in September or October. Historically, these months receive the highest amount of rainfall in the Nicoya Peninsula.

Our concern isn't only the ceremony itself. When planning a destination wedding, we're thinking about your entire guest experience, from arrival day and airport transfers to welcome parties, excursions, rehearsal dinners, and farewell brunches. We want every part of your celebration to feel effortless, not just the ceremony.

Historically, September and October carry the greatest likelihood of weather-related travel disruptions and extended periods of rain, making it more challenging to create the seamless experience most couples envision.

The Best Wedding Date Is About More Than Weather

Choosing your wedding date shouldn't be based solely on a weather chart. Instead, ask yourselves:
